Probably the BEST PLACE to go when it rains (it rained while we were there). Bern is out of a storybook and it is easily walkable within a day by foot. There are many sculptures on the buildings and also historic clocks, fountains, and gardens.

“This capital city of Switzerland is stunningly beautiful, with an incredible variety of cultural amenities. Its well-preserved medieval architecture has been recognized as a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site. Thanks to its central location, Bern is a convenient departure point for excursions to the Alps.” -Business Week rated #9 for Executive Life

Gorgeous place to go..considered the postcard town there. We went on a fun chocolate tour ( nice sculptures…even nicer tasting), hang gliding, and waterfall repelling. The Aussie tours were tons of fun (note: cute, funny, & up for the bars). For individuals more into thrill seeking we recommend skydiving, and for those who aren’t? Parasailing. This is definitely a place for adventure (even though there are high end hotels that you could just sit in your room and enjoy the view). If you go to Switzerland…don’t miss out on interlaken.
Best Thing to Do Free
An organization called Geneva Roule (41-22-740-1343; www.geneveroule.ch) offers free bikes from April 30 to Oct. 30 at four locations around the city. All you need to do is show up with a piece of identification and a deposit of 50 francs (about $40) that will be returned at the end of the day. You can choose from adult bikes, children’s bikes, even bikes with a child seat or trailer — and locks and helmets are thrown in at no charge.
COMMENT: Tons of fun since you can ride around the lake, go see the WHO, see all the gardens north of the fountain. The places where you pick up and drop off your bike are also really great locations
So the site I got the information off of also said that using the BUS system is a really affordable way. Which is def true compared to cabs and such. Did I mention Genva uses the honor system…thus no checking passes and such. >__<
